Sanctuary Runners was established in Ireland in 2018 by former feature writer and broadcaster Graham Clifford after he returned from reporting in Eswatini.
It was one of many reporting jobs which took Graham to parts of the world from where people leave to find safety, sanctuary and a better life.
Frustrated by the lack of connection between those coming to Ireland and those already living there he started a first group in Cork City.
Eight-tears on and there are now over 40 groups in Ireland, Sanctuary Runners GB is expanding also and there are groups constantly being set up in other parts of the world including Australia and the Netherlands.
Our participants come from all walks of life – and that’s the way we like it. Just people taking a step towards building more decent, respectful and cohesive communities.
Our work has been celebrated at the United Nations in Geneva and New York, with international awards and at European Union level – but it’s the magic which occurs at local groups which really drives us. Join us and you’ll see why!
